In the quest for hydration, we often don’t think twice about quenching our thirst right from the tap. Sure, it looks crystal clear, well if you let it run for three minutes lol, it may seem cold and refreshing yet still, lurking beneath that innocent facade of clarity is a myriad of contaminants, each carrying a bundle of health-destructive effects. Let's take a closer look at some of the vulnerabilities that drinking unfiltered tap and well water may leave you open to.
1. PFAs (Forever Chemicals): They're like the unruly unwanted guests at a party who refuse to leave. Per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAs) have earned the ominous moniker "forever chemicals" for their persistence in the environment and our bodies. A simple Google search of "dangers of forever chemicals" will lead you down a rabbit hole with a long laundry list of health troubles, including but not limited to hormone disruption, immune system suppression, and even cancer, these chemical compounds are the ultimate squatters as they come in uninvited, and once they’re in it’s nearly impossible to get them to leave. That is, ehem without the help of an experienced professional cough cough :)
2. Fluoride: While you may have been duped into believing that fluoride is a perfectly safe substance essential for healthy oral upkeep, that is simply wrong! Fluoride is a chemical by-product of industrial manufacturing operations that the wicked have decided to dispose of in our water supply. While it is added to most of your oral care products as another means of "recycling" the chemical, what they fail to mention is fluoride in excess can also lead to dental and skeletal fluorosis, and perhaps chief among the list of health concerns are the detrimental neurological effects. If you find yourself still in a state of disbelief, think about the growing number of health challenges man faces in the 21st century, which is without a doubt largely due to environmental chemical exposures that earlier generations simply did not have to deal with. Fluoride is no exception to this rule.
3. Pesticides Runoff from Farming Operations: Picture this: you're sipping a glass of water, and unknowingly, you're also consuming traces of pesticides that have found their way into the water supply through ground seepage and managed to persist past the water treatment processes that wastewater undergoes before being pumped back to the pipes in your home from the industrial treatment plants. Not exactly the farm-to-table experience you had in mind, right? Pesticides in water have been linked to many health issues, from developmental delays to hormonal imbalances. And perhaps most alarming, are the negative neurological implications. It seems like our brains are under constant attack from every angle huh?
4. Microplastics: Plastic, plastic everywhere, your juice comes in plastic, your milk comes in plastic, your leftovers, plastic, bottled water plastic! Now tell me with all this environmental plastic waste, are you that naive to think your tap water is safe from the plastic waste epidemic? Um yeah, that’s going to be a hard no-dog! Negatron! Microplastics, those tiny terrors of modern convenience, have infiltrated our water sources, posing serious health risks, including chronic inflammation and oxidative stress. Not to mention there is a scary (scientific) correlation between microplastic prevalence and gender divergence as well as early onset puberty.
5. Prescription Drug Contaminants: You might not realize it, but your tap water could be packing more pills than your local pharmacy. From antibiotics to antidepressants, traces of prescription drugs have been found in water supplies across the globe. While the exposure might be lower in some regions, the long-term implications of said exposure are not very positive. These drugs often barely work for the people who legitimately take them it is no small wonder why there is a growing percentage showing up in wastewater.
We haven’t even discussed the bulk of heavy metal contaminants commonly found in wastewater that make their way to your tap water supply. If you are worried about this epidemic there are a ton of interventions you can take to win back health sovereignty from hair mineral tissue analysis to stool sample tests to world-class water filtration systems. We will win back your health independence together. If you want more information about these life-changing interventions...
